The Jeep Cherokee & Jeep Grand Cherokee Come With A Few Differences

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Two vehicles that have the same name but are very different are the Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. They are offered in two sizes, have different prices, and are for different car buyers. Let’s take a look into a few of these vehicle differences and why these SUVs bring in a different clientele.

To start, the Grand Cherokee is much bigger by about a foot, but that’s expected because of its name. If any buyer is looking for a smaller SUV, then the Cherokee is a great choice, but if a buyer wants a larger SUV, then the Grand Cherokee is the way to go. The engine options range from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 hp for the Cherokee. Whereas the Grand Cherokee comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The Grand Cherokee also offers a hybrid option, called the 4xe trim. It comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain. Lastly, there will be a price difference for whichever vehicle the buyer chooses and what trim they get, but no matter what, no one will be disappointed with either the Jeep Cherokee or the Jeep Grand Cherokee because both are excellent choices.

2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the most awarded SUV from Jeep, the Grand Cherokee, the automaker released the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary Edition at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show. This new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is known for being technologically advanced. It can deliver 25 miles of all-electric range and 56 miles per gallon (MPGe) from a hybrid system that distributes 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and has a max towing capability of 6,000 lbs. The Grand Cherokee is undoubtedly the most awarded SUV in history for its luxuriousness, capabilities, and craftsmanship.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary special edition features a dual exhaust, a dual-pane sunroof, 20-inch black wheels, blue tow hooks, and lots more. For the interior of the vehicle there are black Capri leather seats, ventilated front seats, front/rear park assist, Intersection Collision Assist, passive entry, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a digital rearview mirror.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition has a retail price of $4,700 for the package, on top of the starting MSRP of $39,395 (plus destination fee). Depending on the trim of the Grand Cherokee, it can seat five or seven passengers with room to spare. Whether someone purchases the 4xe 30th Anniversary special edition or the original Grand Cherokee 4xe, there will be no disappointment, and Jeep will continue to live up to its impressive name.

Will There Be A 2024 Model?

It is still being determined at the moment if the Jeep Cherokee will be discontinued again because the plant in Illinois will be shut down. With the latest Cherokee model being released, it isn’t clear if this Jeep vehicle will be the last Cherokee or if it will be discontinued or replaced. Production has officially stopped for the 2023 Jeep Cherokee, so now is the time to get orders in because there may not be a 2024 model.

Hope isn’t lost for a 2024 Jeep Cherokee model, but there isn’t much information to go on, so it could swing either way. Although, if the 2024 Cherokee returns, it will likely have a few updates. A 2025 Cherokee model could be a possible option and have a new design to start the next generations of Cherokee models. Another option is that the Cherokee could be replaced entirely with a new electric vehicle.

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee is officially available for purchase, but the supply could be more extensive, and this may be the last affordable Cherokee out there for a while. This 2023 model has a starting price of $37,695 (plus destination fee), and the lineup starts with the Latitude Lux trim. This trim offers leather upholstery, roof rails, LED lights, heated seats, keyless entry/ignition, and more. Even though the future of the Cherokee is unknown, other impressive Jeep SUVs are still coming out.
