What To Expect During The UAW Strike
A big change is hitting the automotive world–150,000 members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) are on strike as of September 14, 2023. The UAW union is the one that puts together domestic vehicles for carmakers like Ford, Stellantis, and General Motors. This is the first crucial strike since 2019, when about 50,000 General Motors workers left the job for a total of 40 days.
A strike like this could have a multibillion-dollar effect on manufacturing domestic vehicles. More issues could even come to existing car owners or anyone trying to buy a new or used car.
This strike also makes it possible to find a new car that fits all needs for a consumer, like if someone is looking for a precise trim level, color or anything that could be customizable. No automaker wants to be in a position where they can’t supply their customers with exactly what they need or want.
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States has noticed an increase in used-car prices and it’s taken a lot to come back from and to normalize the prices again. The UAW strike could also cause production reduction as many replacement parts are needed in body shops.
That doesn’t mean all hope is lost for any new car owner or a returning customer because there are still plenty of vehicles looking to be taken off the dealership lot. Come on down to Vision Automotive Group to check out any of the impressive vehicles that are ready to be taken out on a test drive.
